Early Childhood Education Programs It’s Never to Early to Start Learning

Is there young children around your home right now? Running playing, making a mess sometimes, it is a wonderful time in a child’s life. They’re not old enough to have to attend school, yet they are developing the ability to be able to do so much. You should embrace this stage while it’s here, because before you know it it’s gone. Something that I wish I would’ve researched when my daughter was younger was childhood education programs. There are more common today then when my girl was younger. Today parents often pounce on the chance to provide their child with a head start. By placing your kids in an early childhood program they are given the chance to get a feel for what’s coming in kindergarten.

If you’re one of those parents that is considering an early childhood education program good for you. It’s a great way to propel your son or daughter. The more they learn at an early age the better off they are as they progress into public of private schools. They’ll be introduced to curriculum’s, and the different learning processes. There are a lot of kids that enter the public school system when they are four or five and have trouble adjusting to what’s exactly going on. Of course this is because they’re only interaction each day has been with their parents, now suddenly there are hundreds of other children, and only one teacher to instruct. Often kids don’t take well to this scenario right away.

If you enroll your child in an early childhood education program you will help show your children exactly what to expect when they do reach public school. You’ll likely have a greater success rate of your child adjusting well when they enter school as well.

Now if you don’t want to place them in early childhood education programs there are other options. Another wonderful way for your child to get a head start is with the Internet. The online world is loaded up with educational games to help teach your child new things in a fun way. I encouraged my daughter to play these games when ever she wanted from age four on. Some of these games she still enjoys playing today even at age eight.

If you are considering enrolling your son or daughter in early childhood education programs I recommend you do some research online to see what is available in your area. You’ll likely find numerous websites and find the perfect program for your child close by. It’s never to early for them to start learning, and hopefully they’ll never stop.

The Olympic Games and Business

Nothing on earth can bring humanity together than the Olympic Games. It also applies that nothing can bring global business together than the quadrennial meet.

Last weekend, the mountain city of Turin, host to Italy’s industrial revolution and the holiest relic in Roman Catholicism, became host to more than 2,000 athletes from some 88 participating nations.

The twentieth edition of the Olympic Winter Games, like other Winter and Summer Olympiads, also brought in a host of businesses. These companies collaborate with the local government of the host city with guidance from the International Olympic Committee to ensure a successful staging of the sports meet.

How does funding funnel in?

The topic of funding starts with a tedious selection process that happens a year after the closing of a previous Olympic Games. Take for example the selection process for Turin and London which will host the thirty-first edition of the Summer Olympiad in 2012. All cities wishing to host the games must submit their proposal that describes the funding to be allotted for hosting. To take a cue from London’s winning bid, it proposed the construction of several sports venues plus the refurbishing of existing infrastructure to accommodate the daily influx of athletes and tourists. Their bid swelled to $15 billion. It was estimated that Turin spent some $9 billion dollars to successfully host the Games. It is expected that that figure will rise when Vancouver in British Columbia will host the twenty-first edition of the Winter Olympiad in 2010.

The money used for the bidding came from both the city government (it sometimes involves the federal or national government) and businessmen who are cashing in for free exposure.

One might ask what business got to do with the Olympic Games.

Well, every Olympiad brings together an estimated five billion people from all over the globe through television, radio, print, and the Internet. If one company chooses to advertise its product in the uniform of athletes, that is international publicity.

Aside from this unconscious method of marketing, there are tie-ups between broadcasters and companies. This is more evident in the onslaught of products continuously aired during commercials at a timeslot earmarked for the coverage of an Olympic sport. It is also noticeable how products are plastered on venues.

Can the host city expect a quick return of investment? Not all the time, as in the case of Sydney, Australia in 2000. A higher rate of return can be expected from the sale of tickets to the venue plus the influx of tourists who will visit the host city after the Games are completed.

Games - Might & Magic

Video games have come a long way in the 30 plus years that they have been in existence. Many have come and gone. Some were good, some not so good. But very few had the impact of the Might & Magic series, loosely based off the Dungeons & Dragons role playing and video games.

Might & Magic itself had a very long series with one loosely tying into the next. The original Might & Magic games were crude in comparison to the later versions. But one of the major differences was that the early Might & Magic games were turn based as opposed to the later games which were real time.

The turn based Might & Magic games were just that. You would make your way through the towns and mazes of the lands and when an encounter came against an evil creature or group of creatures, the action would turn from real time to turn based. During this phase the player would plan out his strategy of how he would attack the big bads. After programming in his attacks he would hit the attack button and the computer would compute the results. This continued until the battle resolved one way or another with the player either defeating the creatures or losing in the process, thus ending the game.

Real time based games were real time throughout. If during the course of making your way through the towns and mazes you ran into a creature or group of creatures, the action would continue. The attacks would come at you as you were walking, running or even flying. In return, you would attack the enemy while either advancing on them or retreating. This type of battle took more skill than brains. There are those who preferred the turn based games and those who preferred the real time games throughout.

The Might & Magic series lasted for quite a number of editions. Probably the greatest of these was Might & Magic VI, which at the time was the largest mapped video game ever. The adventure covered no less than 10 different cities and areas. A game could last from 6 months to a year or longer. The levels that your adventurers could reach were beyond counting. Eventually, if you lived long enough and gained enough power, which included finding some really powerful lasers, you could wipe out an island of red, blue and gold dragons in a matter of minutes.

To win the game, you had to defeat the evil queen who was surrounded by her minions from hell. The Hive, the last battle of the game, was guarded by just about every demon of the underworld. Not only did you have to defeat the queen but also had to make your way out of the hive with certain items or the world as you knew it would be destroyed.

If you are new to video games and want to play one of the most incredible games ever made, get a hold of a Windows 95 operating system and pick up an old copy of Might & Magic VI. You won’t be sorry.
